3398 stairs – 119 floors – 552m altitude
These are the technical data of tomorrow’s Towerrunning Tour Final at Shanghai Tower. There is no indoor climb worldwide topping this !
Our Nations Ranking is less known than the individual ones, but before the final we have a very interesting constellation. Poland leading a mere 5 points to Japan and Germany and Mexico are not far behind.
Unfortunately due to an unlucky date collision the Japanese athletes participate at their home race in Osaka …
So Ryoji Watanabe from Japan cannot challenge in another Asian duel the Malaysian Wai Ching Soh for the title of Towerrunning Tour Champion 2023. Wai Ching has an impressive season record of 25 wins in 28 races and definitely is a worthy champion. His last goal is to win the Final too in which the previous Shanghai winners Piotr Lobodzinski (POL) and Mark Bourne (AUS) seem to be the strongest contrahents.
Defending Tour Champion and leader Kamila Chomanicova from Slovakia would needa 4th place to be sure to finish the season as No.1 again. In the absence of Japanese Yuko Tateishi and the ill Maria Elisa Lopez from Mexico there are two Ladies challenging Kamila. Verena Schmitz from Germany would need a at least a 4th place, Estonian Kaisa Kukk definitely a win to claim the title dependent from the results of the others. Defending Shanghai Champion Valentina Belotti from Italy.due to too few season races has no chance for the overall title.
