Taipei 101 Run Up 2019

More than 5000 athletes climbed 101

The 15th edition of the Taipei 101 Run Up once again was an exciting day for the Towerrunning family
Traditionally the elite athletes begin the competition and with the gong ceremony Suzy Walsham started her 91 stories climb up mastering 2046 stairs. And for the 5th time she was fastest female in a time of 13:12 giving a comfortable lead before Muhua Jian (CHN-14:00)) and 4th-time 3rd Cristina Bonacina (ITA-15:51). Two home athletes followed (4 Lee Xiao Yu 16:10 and 5 Jiang Hui Shi 16:41)
Ilona Gradus from Poland in her first intercontinental stair race and Malaysian Michele Tan placed 6th and 7th.

Same story in the male race: The defending Champion Piotr Lobodzinski was unchallenged and added his score to now three titles at 101. 10:46 was his best time here and the course record is in reach ! Four times Champion Mark Bourne from Australia was second in 11:27. In another round of the duel for Top Asian Japanese Ryoji Watanabe (11:43) was 12 seconds fasters than Malaysian Wai Ching Soh. Görge Heimann from Germany finished 5th in 12:42 followed by 2 home athletes. On 8th position we saw a veteran from the inaugural race. Rudolf Reitberger (AUT) was runner up in 2005, when Paul Crake and Andrea Mayr set the course records still valid today !

With the Self Challenge and Corporate Team Divisions more than 5000 participants climbed the iconic tower – a masterpiece of organization conducted by 101 Management and CTRRA supported by CTBC Bank. Final highlight of the day was the official announcement of the 3rd Towerrunning World Championships to be hosted in May 2020 within Taipei 101 Run Up !
