The first major event of the Towerrunning Tour 2026 was  the International Vertical Marathon PingAn up the iconic PingAn Financial Center in Shenzhen. To be climbed were 116 floors with 3201 stairs covering an altitude of 541 meters.

Many international elite runners were challenged by the best Chinese home athletes and in the end the winners were the reigning Towerrunning Tour Champions.

Tea Faber from Croatia clocked 22:41, 3 seconds faster than at her win last year and was nearly a minute before Laura Manninen. The astonishing athlete from Finland raced to another podium place in a very high building ! The other price money places went to Chinese athletes, Zhuoman Zheng was 3rd in 32:52 and Bingling Zheng 4th with 24:16

Wai Ching Soh did it again. He crossed the line in  19:23 marking a new course record too by 1 second ! The previous holder and eternal rival Ryoji Watanabe had to be content with the runner up place in 19:39, proved to be the only other sub20 performance of the day. 3rd place went to Australian Mark Bourne in 20:13, just 4 seconds before the fastest home athlete Simin Han.
