September 22 - Announcement of Towerrunning 160 – Swissotel Vertical Marathon on Nov 20 

Singapore will host its first ever Towerrunning 160 race on Sunday 20 November 2016. The 2016 Swissotel Vertical Marathon is the 29th edition of the event, making it Asia’s oldest stair race and one of the oldest in the world. The race is held up Swissotel The Stamford Hotel, which with 226m  is one of the tallest hotels in in South East Asia.  More than 2,000 runners are expected to scale the 1,336 stairs up to the 73rd story rooftop helipad, where they will be greeted with amazing 360 degree views of the city state.  Almost 3000 Euro in prize money is waiting for the 3 best male and female athletes  as well as sponsor gifts.

The Swissotel Vertical Marathon is pleased to announce travel packages for 6 international athletes comprising 400 Euro travel reimbursement and 2 nights’ accommodation with breakfast. An additional 4 travel packages comprising 1 night accommodation with breakfast will be provided to athletes from Asia.  Travel packages will be awarded to TWA-registered athletes with a Top 30 ranking according to the August 2016 TWA rankings and using the official TWA elite application system. September 4 - Announcement of Towerrunning 120 LVM Skyrun, Münster on Oct 9   

The sprint specialists will be out in force as Münster hosts the Towerrunning 120 race on October 9, 2016.  At only 18 floors and 360 stairs, the Tower is one of the shortest in the Towerrunning Tour, but the unique race format of LVM Skyrun Münster is deceptively tough, requiring runners to complete a qualification round followed by a series of knock-out heats, each time completing a full ascension of the Tower. The top 3 male, female and team winners will each share in a prize pool of  900 Euro.

TWA and LVM Skyrun Münster are pleased to announce travel packages for 6 athletes comprising travel reimbursement of 200 Euro and 1 night accommodation including breakfast. September 1 - Announcement Towerrunning Asian&Oceanian Championships in Taipei on May 7, 2017 


The second Towerrunning Asian&Oceanian Championships will take place on May 7th, 2017 in Taipei, Taipei 101 ( Taipei 101 Run Up ). The Asian&Oceanian Championships are organized as a joint project of the TWA and the organizers of Taipei 101 Run Up ( Taipei Financial Center Corporation ).

Invitation process for the Towerrunning Asian&Oceanian Championships will be run by the Towerrunning World Association. The invitation criteria will be announced on November 1, 2016. All invited runners will get 400 Euro travel reimbursement, 2 nights of accomodation including breakfast and free race entry. Prize money for the top 5 male/female athletes: 1st place 1500 € - 2nd place 1250 € - 3rd place 1000 € - 4th place 750 € - 5th place 500 €

The Asian&Oceanian Championships are in the Towerruning 200 Race Category. Non Asian&Oceanian athletes are also very welcome. The Towerrunning Asian&Oceanian Championships are a regular Towerrunning Tour event . Ranking points are awarded to all competitors. Cash prizes and invitations are exclusive privileges of Asian&Oceanian athletes.„ We are very glad to announce the launch of the  Towerrunning Asian&Oceanian Championships 2017. Taipei 101 Run Up has been widely recognized by both the athletes and the TWA since its launch. August 1 -  Announcement for SkyRise Chicago on Nov 6    

One of the tallest indoor stair climbs in the world will be held up the soaring Willis Tower in Chicago on Sunday, November 6th, 2016.  SkyRise Chicago, a Towerrunning 80 race and WFGT Towerrunning Challenge event will see athletes climb 2,115 stairs and 1,353ft to finish at SkyDeck Chicago on the 103rd floor.  The event is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants and raise more than $USD1 million for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

SkyRise Chicago is pleased to announce free registration to 40 elite athletes as follows: 5 international slots for TWA-registered athletes with a Top 30 ranking according to the August 2016 TWA rankings; a further 30 slots (15 male and 15 female) to top ranked TWA-registered USA athletes according to Towerrunning USA rankings at the end of the application period; and a further 5 slots to other TWA-registered competitive athletes based on performance at recent stair climbing races.  Interested athletes can apply from  August 1st until August 26th, 2016 at 10pm Central Europe Time for:

If you are not TWA-registered please complete the registration process at  www.towerrunning.com/athletes. Selected elite athletes will not enter via the event’s online registration system.  Successful applicants will be notified after the application period ends with details about the registration process.



July 28 - Qualification Criteria  Towerrunning Pan-American Championships in Bogota on Dec 8    

The first ever Towerrunning Pan-American Championships will take place on December 8, 2016 in Bogota, Torre Colpatria ( Carrera Ascenso Torre Colpatria ). The Pan-American Championships are organized as a joint project of the TWA and the organizers of Carrera Ascenso Torre Colpatria ( Correcaminos Colombia ).

Invitation process for the Towerrunning Pan-American Championships will be run by the Towerrunning World Association. The qualification criteria for the invitations:

Towerrunning USA 2016 national champions ( male, female )
Towerrunning Mexico 2016 tour winners ( male , female )
SkyRise Chicago 2016, Willis Tower winners ( male, female )
TWA October 2016 ranking, 2 best runners from Pan-American region not qualified yet (male,female)
TWA / race organizer 2 wildcards ( male, female )

All invited runners will get 400 Euro travel reimbursement, 2 nights of accomodation including breakfast and free race entry.

Prize money for the top 5 male/female athletes:

1st place 1000 € - 2nd place 600 € - 3rd place 400 € - 4th place 300 € - 5th place 200 €

The Pan-American Championships are in the Towerruning 200 Race Category.
